Bay View Golf Club occupies a hilly 121-acre property above Milpitas that has hosted golf since 1978, when it opened as Tularcitos Golf Club. The course was later renamed Summitpointe and operated for years under American Golf before owner Cady Yu purchased it in 2019 and reopened it as Bay View Golf Club following a multi-year renovation completed around 2020.

On the course

The routing is built into steep terrain in the Diablo Range foothills, with the property rising roughly 300 feet above Interstate 680. Sightlines across Silicon Valley and the South Bay open up from the first few holes, and the back nine threads through a grassy canyon that golfers familiar with the course tend to rate as its strongest stretch. From the back tees the 18-hole, par-72 layout measures about 6,331 yards, with four sets of tees down to roughly 4,800 yards. Elevation changes, water hazards, and undulating greens define the character of the round more than length.

Who it suits

Notable holes include the 401-yard par-4 8th, the course's number-one handicap, and the par-3 16th at the end of the canyon sequence that begins at the 11th. The shorter par-3 3rd, at about 122 yards, plays as the easiest hole on the card. The slope rating runs around 131-133 from the tips, which reflects how punishing the side-hill lies and blind shots can be for players unfamiliar with the property.

Bay View suits golfers who enjoy a quirky, terrain-driven layout where local knowledge matters more than raw distance. It also functions as a teaching center: the on-site Bay View Academy runs junior programs that have produced NCAA Division I players and hosts AJGA, JTNC, and JGANC tournaments. A driving range, Trackman fitting studio, and full restaurant and event space round out the facility.
