About Dublin Ranch Golf Course
Dublin Ranch Golf Course opened in 2004 as the first and still only golf course in the city of Dublin, built into the hillsides of a master-planned community on the eastern edge of the Tri-Valley. Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed it with his longtime design partner Donald Knott, and rather than force a full-length course onto the slopes they drew up an 18-hole par 63: eleven par 3s, five par 4s and two par 5s. KemperSports manages the operation.
On the course
Do not read the par as a soft touch. The par 3s play across dips and hillsides to elevated tees and greens, the longest about 177 yards from the blue tees, and both par 5s run well past 500 yards, including the 549-yard 5th. The greens carry the course's reputation: quick, undulating surfaces that regulars say are the best-conditioned part of the property. Every hole looks out over the Livermore Valley with Mt. Diablo on the horizon.
Who it suits
The case for playing it is time and sharpness. A round asks for nearly every club in the bag yet finishes noticeably faster than a championship 18, and the rolling terrain makes a cart tempting even at modest yardage. Reviewers consistently praise the conditioning, particularly the putting surfaces, as punching above the green fee. It suits golfers sharpening their iron play, seniors and juniors who prefer manageable length, and anyone fitting real golf into a shorter window.
Facilities are modest and match the quick-round mission: practice putting greens, a pro shop and casual food and drink at the clubhouse. There is no full-length driving range on site, so plan to warm up with wedges and putter. Pick Dublin Ranch when you want genuine shot values and fast greens without committing to 6,500 yards, and skip it only if hitting driver all day is the point of your round.
