About Timber Creek Golf Course

Timber Creek Golf Course opened in 1995 as the golf centerpiece of Del Webb's Sun City Roseville, one of Northern California's largest active-adult communities. Billy Casper and Greg Nash designed the 18-hole layout to weave gracefully through the neighborhood while preserving environmentally sensitive areas, which are still staked and fenced off as no-play zones today. Despite the community setting, Timber Creek operates as an award-winning daily-fee course open to public play.

On the course

The two nines carry distinct personalities. The front nine, the Lakes, is the more open half, known for its ponds and waterfalls and for water crowding otherwise generous fairways; the back nine, the Oaks, tightens considerably and runs almost secluded through native oak groves. The 123-yard 6th is the signature short par 3, a risk-reward shot over water, the toughest hole on the card is the 430-yard par-4 11th, and the round closes with a reachable 522-yard par-5 18th.

Who it suits

At 6,488 yards and 71.4/129 from the Black tees, it is a manageable walk over gentle terrain, which is exactly how much of the Sun City membership plays it. Public reviewers consistently praise the conditioning - greens that roll true and lush fairways - and KCRA A-List voters have rated the facility Sacramento's number-one golf destination for its conditions, layout and pricing. Senior rates start at age 60, and while mid-morning rounds can crawl past four and a half hours, players report busy days still moving at about 4:15.

A full practice facility sits beside the clubhouse with a driving range, putting green, and pitching, chipping and bunker areas, plus teaching pros; the pro shop and the Timbers restaurant at the adjacent lodge round out the amenities. With eight rated tee combinations from 4,278 to 6,488 yards, Timber Creek fits seniors and mixed-skill groups especially well - a forgiving, well-kept members-style course that anyone can book.
