Bert Stamps laid out Paso Robles Golf Club on the oak-studded hills off Country Club Drive, and by the club's own account it was built in 1961 as a private country club (most directories date it to 1960). After lean years, it was purchased by its current owner in the early 2000s and has been steadily improved since — the 2019 opening of the on-site Deeds Bar & Grill turned the clubhouse into a destination of its own — and the course is now fully open to the public.

On the course

The par-70 layout plays 6,157 yards from the Blue tees (70.2/119) and leans on elevation change, creeks, ponds, and fairway bunkers rather than raw length. It opens with a reachable 489-yard par 5, the 225-yard par-3 6th is the No. 2 handicap, and the back nine begins with the hardest hole on the card, a 469-yard par-4 10th that women play as a par 5 (par 71 total). Four tee sets run from 5,367 yards, and express forward tees are marked on many holes for faster rounds.
