About Incline Village - Mountain Course
The Mountain Course at Incline Village is the high-altitude half of IVGID's two-course operation on Lake Tahoe's Nevada shore — a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that has been winding through the pines above town since 1968. Where the Championship Course spreads out down at 955 Fairway Blvd, the Mountain Course sits up Wilson Way at the top of the village, topping out at 7,025 feet above sea level — the highest-elevation golf course in Nevada and the entire Tahoe Basin.
On the course
This is an executive layout in the best sense: par 58, with fourteen par 3s and four par 4s over 3,527 yards from the White tees. The one-shotters run from pitching-wedge length up to a 200-yard eighth, and the thin air at 7,000 feet means the ball flies farther than the card suggests — the real test is recalibrating club selection on every tee as the holes tumble up and down the mountainside through old-growth trees, water hazards, and well-bunkered greens. Three shorter tee sets, down to 2,674 yards, keep it approachable for juniors and newer players.
Who it suits
The season is short and snow-dependent. The course typically operates from mid-May through mid-October; for 2026 it opened May 15, a week behind the Championship Course, because the higher elevation demands extra spring maintenance, and fall closing floats with the weather. When it is open, the reward is the setting: Lake Tahoe views, cool mountain air, and rounds that move — the posted pace-of-play standard is 3 hours 30 minutes for 18 holes, and nine-hole play is offered.
Facilities at the Mountain clubhouse include a golf shop (7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in season), a chipping and putting green, and a snack bar; the driving range is down the hill at the Championship Course. The scorecard is dedicated to Harold B. Tiller and carries two credentials worth noting: Audubon International certification and a spot on Golf Range Magazine's list of the top short courses in America.
