About Vintner's Golf Club
Vintner's Golf Club opened in 1999 on the floor of Napa Valley in Yountville, with an original routing by California architect Casey O'Callaghan. In 2003 the course was redesigned by Bob Boldt, a former PGA Tour and Senior Tour player, who added a set of black tees aimed at scratch and professional players while keeping the layout approachable for everyone else.
On the course
The nine-hole resort course plays to a par of 34 and stretches to roughly 2,929 yards from the back tees, with a slope of 121 and three sets of tees in total. The property sits in the heart of up-valley wine country, with vineyard surroundings, a small lake in play on several holes, and views of the hills that frame the Napa Valley floor. The relatively flat terrain and short overall length make it walkable, and most golfers complete a loop in about two hours.
Who it suits
Facilities include an on-site driving range with four practice tees and Lakeside Grill, a casual restaurant overlooking the course. Vintner's has been recognized by Napa Sonoma Magazine as the best up-valley golf course and is known locally for the condition of its greens.
The course suits a wide range of players: beginners and higher-handicap golfers can play the forward tees comfortably, while better players can test themselves from the black tees Boldt added in the redesign. It works well as a quick round for visitors splitting time between golf and Napa's wineries and restaurants, and as a regular nine for locals who want a manageable walk close to town.
